home

got home yesterday, around 1330...

everything is fine here, just glad to sleep in my own bed for a change!! been having some very wierd dreams!!!

was a great holiday... great to be away from home and seeing a bit more of the world..... sa is a geat place.. it's a big country and there is alot to do there... the only thing they don't have is skiing... otherwise, you can surf, sit on the beach, walk in the bush, mountain climb and look at lovely internal and coastal scenery... a cheap place in parts, but the tourist hike up is quite bad in cape town and the garden route.... so much so that it's no cheaper than london in some places...... so god knows how the locals cope (i suppose they cope by not going to those places)

wilderness

driven up to the karoo yesterday and today... last night stayed in a lovely hotel in oudtshoon... the rooms were small lodges... very nice touch...

now i am in worcester... a farming town about 120km from cape town... i decided to stay here as a break from cape town... also it's a bit cheaper..... nice hotel tho...

off to watch the rugby now for the rest of the day and head to cape town early in the morning... to go to kirstenbosch (botanical gardens) then also the rhodes memorial....

my last night is in the table bay hotel again and then i fly to joburg tomorrow lunchtime and then to dubai and then london.... it's been 4 weeks now and i have to say i'm ready for my own bed.....

garden

well... arrived in knysa now.... the drive from stellenbosh was a long on but it was a good drive, through parts of the karoo and then down the hills towards the caost at knysa... iot's a lovely little place, the third oldest town in south africa (everything around here boasts of it age, even if that is only a couiple of hundred years)..... the town is again a tourist trap.... lots of brits, but that's not so surprising anymore.....

went down to the beach last night to watch the sunset... all very pretty.... the sand was nice and cool, but the water was slightly too cold for my liking...

staying in plettenberg tonight... another small pretty town by the looks of it.....but at a nice hotel that looks over the ocean

tomorrow, i'm in a farming town in the middle of nowhere.... in the small karoo.... that's going to be really interesting.... they have lots of ostrich there....

not sure about saturday yet... but will have to be a good hotel to makce sure they have the sports channels for the rugby

sunday night is back in cape town... to pick up my ikepod watch (isn't it ironic the only place i can fix my watch is here in south africa and not in london... the joys of owning such an exclusive watch i guess....

anyhow... off to explore around here and look at an elephant farm...

ciao for now

wine

went wine tasting this morning... good fun... the manager of the trips made a bus turn around and come back to pick me up... you'd never get that in the uk... we visited 3 vineyards... rustenburg was very exclusive... they don't allow too many trips... they all have pretty decent reds, but the whites are a bit flat... not unsurprising really though... i don't think it's cold enough for a good white here, but the pinotage is good.... oddly thought there is alot of oak here, their barrels are imported from europe...

anyhow...it's very warm today and the wine and lunch has made me quite tired... so it's a do nothing afternoon... preparing for the long drive down to knysa in the morning....
